I am not my daughters’ friend. I will not tell them who they can or cannot date. I am not here to judge or demean them, nor to give them impossible goals to conquer. I am here to love and teach my daughters how to love and respect themselves. To wish the very best for them, to acknowledge when something is done great. To volunteer all the knowledge that I have acquired through years of living. Not so they can do as I have, because God knows I have made many mistakes. It is to show them, even when you make mistakes all is not lost. If I have done this correctly, my job as a Mother will be considered successful.
As a successful mother, I have prepared my daughters to be out in society. They shall be women greater than myself, fully capable of taking care of themselves. My daughters will know life is not fair, yet that is not an excuse to fail. In order for me to accomplish these tasks, I don't have time to be my daughters’ friend, I am too busy being their mother. These are the lessons I learned from my mother. My mother believed in me, I have faith in my daughters. I pass this knowledge to my daughters, to hand down to their daughters, so they can be the women my mom taught me to be.
